Daryl O'Dowd holds degrees in Geology and Meteorology from Queen's University and the University of Alberta. With over 18 years of applied meteorological experience, including Arctic and international projects, and with full NAFTA and EU access, he provides consulting services in support of:

 

FORENSIC INVESTIGATIONS – data acquisition, accident scene weather reconstruction, expert witness services

 

OUTDOOR CONCERT, FILM AND SPORTS EVENTS – on-site weather briefings, severe weather monitoring and advice, local instrumentation, insurance observations and loss claim verification

 

WIND ENERGY – RADAR/NAVCAN conflict resolution, SODAR programs, performance failure investigation, land owner negotiations, media and public relations programs

 

WEATHER MODIFICATION – ground and aerial program design, metrics and pricing, equipment/staff acquisition, RADAR/TITAN installation, field execution, forecasting and aircraft control

 

Past projects include the hail suppression program of the Alberta Research Council, paleoclimate studies for the Geological Survey of Canada, on-going severe weather accident investigations for Canadian engineering, police, insurance and legal clients, rain enhancement and aerosol measurement over the City of Istanbul, weather observations and pilot briefings with Environment Canada, cloud-seeding aircraft radar control and international project management for WMI (Fargo) and SOAR (Texas), ice-nuclei studies for the State of Texas, aircraft weather routing and marketing as Director of Meteorological Operations for Skyplan International, long-range forecasting with Irving P. Krick Associates, bid proposals for AMEC, Rebanks and Kenn Borek Air, appearances on Access and CBC Television, radar/windfarm/airspace conflict resolution for Genivar, international air survey forecasting for Morgan Air, Aries and Intermap, solar car forecasts for the North American Solar Challenge, and climate change and El Nino studies for national and international mining, commodity trading and utility companies, including INCO/Vale, ENMAX and TransAlta.

 

Recently acted as on-site NHL meteorologist for the 2011 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic Hockey Game.
