Weather Forecaster - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

RWDI’s team of meteorologists and engineers understand weather and can help guide plans and designs by evaluating short/long-range conditions to minimize negative impacts in operations before they occur.  Join our team!

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our Weather Forecasting team in Dartmouth as an Operational Meteorologist.  This full-time position is a 6 month contract.

The role includes:

• Creating and distributing weather forecasts to clients.
• Evaluating current operational weather forecast model performance.
• Monitoring and assessing observational data (meteorological towers, radar, satellite)
• Making changes to weather forecasts as necessary.
• Providing scheduled and impromptu phone weather briefings with clients.
• Monitoring weather situations and providing alert services for certain clients.
• Basic trouble-shooting and problem reporting of computer systems.

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree/diploma in atmospheric sciences/meteorology.
• Willingness/ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to meet daily deadlines, make decisions, and work independently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Microsoft Office.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
